Homeland Insecurity (nod to Michael Roman)
2017
Acrylic on Canvas
48" x 36"
The title of the painting should be relatively self-explanatory with regards to the current political climate. Michael Roman was a friend and great Mexican/American artist who recently passed away. We met in New York back in the eighties when he was mostly known for his street art stencils, running around with Keith Haring and Basquiat. We were in various shows together but became good friends above that. He probably made most of his living at the time from selling his printed t-shirts, once of which I've put on the subject of the painting.
